Tim Holtz Crazy Birds ( 7,8)

IMG_7582 (Medium)IMG_7583 (Medium)It’s Bird Crazy time !I stamped the bird images onto watercolour paper and coloured with distrss inks, and then fussy cut out. The main reason I wanted to show these cards ( and the two following tomorrow) was for the backgrounds. I taped my watercolour card onto my craft mat with some low tack tape – I used washi tape and this step was done to give the white border around the card. I coloured the whole piece with a light shade of distress ink and sponge, and then stenciled through with darker inks using a variety of stencils. If you don’t have stencils you can use the negative  waste from your die cuts, which I have been known to do! For the bottom card I die cut some letters for the Be Cool. When your inked background is finished remove the washi tape, ( Slowly so the card doesnt rip). Til tomorow….

Kaisercraft Little one, card in a box

IMG_7590 (Medium)These two cards are the reason I had this paper ( kaisercraft Little one) out on my desk the other day. I fussy cut the elephants and owls out of some of the 12 x 12 papers in the collection, and made my boxes ( video coming I promise – they are so simple you will be amazed!) and fixed the fussy cutting onto strips of acetate.they wobble about nicely!I have since had to make more owls cards because the three I initially made have gone – I sent one to my Auntie in Perth and it handled the post perfectly and was only the cost of a normal stamp! Much cooler day here and after the week of humidity we have had it is so welcome. Looking forward to a weekend of playing with my new stampin up supplies! til tomorrow…..

Kaisercraft Little One 5,6, and 7..

IMG_7586 (Medium)IMG_7588 (Medium)IMG_7593 (Medium)Kaisercraft Little One paper collection and collectables.I had this paper out for a different reason, which I will show you all next time, but while it was out I did a couple of quick cards with it to top up my boxes.Very minimal embellishing on these ones, just my go -to ribbon, and a few buttons. I found a few heart shaped buttons in my stash and thought they were perfect for these cards. a welcome day off today, and the grocery shopping is done so i will spend a couple of hours in the craft room. I haven’t been in there much lately, it’s been too hot, and still is, but my fingers are itching to sit down and create, so I will get in the zone and ignore the weather! thank you all for your comments, I feel we are building a lovely card making community and I so enjoy hearing from all of you! til tomorrow…..

kaisercraft telegraph road.

IMG_7580 (Medium)IMG_7581 (Medium)I made these cards for a village class, so I kept them quite simple. The paper is from kaisercraft – telegraph road, and I added some lace, ribbon and flowers, punched leaves and stamped sentiments.Well, we are still hot here in adelaide,so far this month we haven’t had a day under 25c, so quite looking forward to winter this year!! I started work super early today, so home early, I am going to prepare some tea, and have a nice seat under the air conditioner duct with my book. Til tomorrow….

embedded embossing with kaisercraft secret garden

IMG_7576 (Medium)The last of kaisercraft secret garden paper collection ( for now) and matching collectables, as well as a die cut butterfly ( memory box die) doily, ribbon and bling. the reason I kept this one til last was to show you the embedded embossing technique. I had a lot of little bits and strips of paper so I stuck them all on some white cardstock – i inked around all the edges and left a little bit of white space between each strip, then i ran the whole thing through an embossing folder and my big -shot. The embossing folder I used was a kaisercraft one – postcards I think it was called, but you can use any folder as long as it has quite a close design over it, its fun to experiment with this technique and a brilliant way to use up those little strips of patterned paper we just can’t bring ourselves to throw out! We have had a power outage for most of the day today, so nothing much done but a bit of reading. Thank goodness it’s back on now so the air conditioner is working double time to cool the house down! Til tomorrow…

Secret Garden ..

IMG_7579 (Medium)

WordPress has changed how I post on my blog, and I don’t like it! even Nathan my go to techie son is having problems, so I hope this works! Todays card is still kaisercraft Secret garden, the second to last card in this series ( for now) I couldn’t lose this paper, and have filed it away for future card making. This card has lots of goodies on it – punched leaves and butterflies, ribbon, lace ( a find from  a country second hand shop), a doily, flowers and a collectable doily as well. i think this is my favourite, but I do love this paper. Today is a lovely day here weather wise, not too hot, so a good day for a bit of house keeping before a couple of hours in the craft room. til tomorrow….

still revisiting kaisercraft secret garden

IMG_7577 (Medium)IMG_7578 (Medium)Kaisercraft secret garden, paper collection and matching collectables. Here I layered some of the doily collectables on top of one another with foam pads, and just went to town with ribbon, lace and flowers, and punched leaves. The pretty lace on the bottom card was a brilliant find in a second hand shop in a country town outside of Adelaide . I visited there with my sister last time I was on holidays’ and found lots of interesting buttons and lace! Today is so much cooler here, it’s lovely, so I am enjoying some relaxing time in the craft room. Til tomorrow….

revisiting Kaisercraft secret garden..

IMG_7574 (Medium)IMG_7575 (Medium)True to my new years resolution I pulled out some old paper the other day, first up is Kaisercraft secret garden. I loved this paper collection when it came out so I have a lot of it , and I still love it, so it didn’t make the lose it pile – I made a few cards which I will show over the next couple days and the rest has gone back into the shelves. The interesting thibng about this exercise is that since buying the paper I have new dies, stamps etc, so the cards I am making now with the old paper look nothing like the cards I made originally! The top card has some butterflies that I stamped onto patterned paper and fussy cut out, the bottom card has a die cut butterfly ( a memory box die), and I added a doily and sequins to that one. Super hot day here, I jumped into a cold shower as soon as I got home – feel so overheated.salads again for tea, this feels like a long summer this year – looking forward to a pot of soup as soon as we get some cold weather. Til tomorrow….

The last two My Minds eye….

IMG_7572 (Medium)IMG_7573 (Medium)Here are the last two cards I made with My minds Eye My story paper collection, and chipboard elements. The only thing I added to these two was a little bit of gold twine. I have enjoyed playing with this collection and will revisit it again to use up all the leftovers when I have made some cards with the new collections I bought over christmas and haven’t cut into yet!Meanwhile today in the craft room with all lessons up to date I am creating with some graphic 45 and then will move on to some very old paper collections to start my new years resolution which is to use it or clear it out!Til tomorow…..

My Minds Eye My story number 7…

IMG_7570 (Medium)My minds eye My story paper collection ( the 6″ pad) and fussy cut butterflies from the same paper collection. I threaded the chipboard banner elements onto some gold twine, and just added a few sequins to finish this one. I have one more lesson to set up today, so I will take the little puppy into the craft room with me and attempt to teach her craft room etiquette! She is settling in well here, and our older dog Foxy tolerates her – they will be very good friends when she calms down a little bit! Our weather is still very warm over the 30C for days now and no end in sight but thats ok – better than over the 40c!! Til tomorrow….
