Kaisercraft pitter Patter 6″ pad for the paper, and the matching collectables to embellish. I used stampin up sky blue cardstock, ink pad ( to ink around my edges) and button and linen thread to finish. today I have been moving some of my bigger tools into the adjoining room ( to be known from here on as the craft room annex!) but I have been a little distracted playing with my new spellbinder dies – I love the borders I bought, and have lots of ideas for them – may even do a lesson using them… still working on that thought! til tomorrow….

I used the 12 x 12 papers for this one, along with some of the matching collectables. I fussy cut the patchwork squares and tucked them behind the checked strip, inking all my edges with Stampin up pool party ink pad. Some more collectables to spell out Baby boy, and a bow over the rattle to finish.Today I saw the new spellbinder dies, and bought a few so hopefully this weekend my new trestle table is positioned in my new extension to my craft space, and I can put all my big tools ( sewing machine, big shot, cricut machine etc ) on it close to hand and ready to use at a moments notice! Can’t wait! A couple of months ago kaisercraft brought out a new range of baby paper called Pitter Patter. It is gorgeous, and can be used for more than just baby cards, but I started off making a few baby boy cards with with it and this one is the first. I used a piece of patterned paper from the 6″ pad, and some of the matching collectables. I inked all my edges with Stampin up ink – Pool party, and added 2 white ribbon bows. Til tomorrow…..

christmas cards using last years papers!

IMG_5505 (Medium)IMG_5506 (Medium)Here are some example of cards that I made with the leftover collectables from assorted kaisercraft collections from last year.I will show a few more tomorrow, and then we will leave christmas until the new collections start coming out although with so much still leftover I really have no excuse to buy them this year! The bauble cards are a favourite of mine. I haven’t spent a lot of time in the craft room this weekend, I have been busy doing some family research and have found it is very addictive! we had another power cut today so all card making plans went out of the window as I like a good light when I am creating.Til tomorrow…..

more christmas cards using last years bits and pieces

IMG_5502 (Medium)IMG_5504 (Medium)The cards on the top have lots of strips layered together, and the bottom set use bigger pieces, and leftover collectablers. again I am sure I have mixed up the collections, but they seem to go together ok!Til tomorrow….

Christmas cards using last years leftover papers number 5

IMG_5497 (Medium)Tonight we are looking at using scraps that are a little bigger than the ones we have previously been using. Choose pieces that when used together will cover the whole of your card front, lay them out and match them up in a way that they look good together, stick them on your card front and cover the join with a border – either from the paper pad as I have or punch one or die cut one out. If all else fails use ribbon!layer up some die cuts from the paper pad and collectables add a ribbon bow and thats a few more scraps put to good use! Til tomorrow….

christmas cards using last years scraps number 4

IMG_5503 (Medium)Here is another idea to use up those little strips of patterned papers. I have cut some banners and grouped them together with a decorative brad, but you could string them across the top of the card for another look. a message die cut and ribbon was all that was needed to finish! tomorrow we will look at scraps that are a little bit bigger! til tomorrow….

Christmas cards using last years scraps part 3

IMG_5499 (Medium)Tonights idea combines the previous two posts using strips and squares , with lots of layering and use of foam squares to give different heights on the the card. A ribbon bow , button threaded with linen thread and the red rhinestones add visual interest and cunningly form a triangle which draws the eye around the card!Til tomorrow….

Christmas cards with leftover bits part 2

IMG_5501 (Medium)Another idea for those strips of leftover bits is to cut ( or punch) them into squares and layer them with foam pads ( I use three different thicknesses – .5 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm) onto your card.add  a ribbon bow and button for a homespun feel and to add the the patchwork effect. The greeting on the right hand card was made with a scalloped collectable which had a message on it which I didn’t want to use ( sometimes those messages are more for scrapbooking than card making ) and layered another circle – this time from the paper pad – on top.
