Folding Box Card

This week I made half a dozen folding box cards. These cards are terrific because they fold flat into a normal envelope, and are quite easy to make once you have the hang of the measurements. I have made a youtube video showing how to make, and all the measurements you need. You will find it on Youtube at Helens Card Designs. The papers I have used are from Uniquely Creative and the collection is called Tranquility. This paper was perfect as it has lots of images the right size for the boxes, and the mix of flowers, butterflies and birds allows a good choice to put in your box. I have had a busy couple of weeks.. I taught my retirement village ladies, just got that class in before we all went on restrictions again due to covid. Luckily so far we have avoided an outbreak in our state, but I certainly feel for the other states who are confined to home again. That is when our hobby becomes a sanity saver! the weather has certainly turned to winter, and the heater is running here a lot, but I do not complain about the cold weather and the nice drop of rain we have had. Til next time, stay safe…

As promised the other shabby…

_MG_2994 (Medium)This is the second Shabby Chic card i taught in my recent class. we distressed and inked, and die cut and added lots of lovely flowers! We did also colour our flowers with some distress re inker watered down in a spray bottle and sprayed our butterflies too. If I remember correctly the paper collection is from Kaisercraft called pen and ink.

A box of butterflies!

_MG_4653 (Medium)The last two items I made with the three Kaisercraft Indigo Skies paper that I purchased were cards and matching boxes, so I will show one today and we will finish the series with the other card and box tomorrow. For the card i die cut an oval from the patterned paper, added a fussy cut butterflies, and added flowers and a little bling. To decorate the box I added a die cut butterfly flourish ( paper rose die), ribbon, lace and another fussy cut butterfly. Til tomorrow….

3 Sheets of Kaisercraft Indigo Skies continued….

_MG_4649 (Medium)_MG_4651 (Medium)For these next two cards, I used a Paper Roses stitched oval die to cut an aperture in the front of a card base, ( it’s easiest to do this with the patterned paper already attached). I put the resulting oval die cuts ( 1 plain card and 1 patterned paper) aside for another card. Decorated the inside panel with the wood panel patterned paper and a fussy cut butterfly, and the front with some fussy cut flowers and a pearl and ribbon. The second card made use of the plain die cut oval, a fussy cut butterfly , die cut birthday greeting ( in silver foil card) and bling! I had a hugely busy week working, so this weekend will be spent catching up around the house, but I don’t doubt that I will find some time to craft. Til tomorrow…..

Kaisercraft Madamoiselle Box card

IMG_0028 (Medium)The final card I made with Kaisercraft Madamoiselle paper collection was this box card.I have simple instructions for constructing this shaped card on my you tube channel ( helens card designs), so much easier than it looks! The papers were from the 6″ pad as was the sentiment and I fussy cut some butterflies from the 12 x 12 sheet from the same collection.I just added some Foliage die cuts ( kaisercraft die) to finish this one. Today I am heading in to the craft room to fulfill some orders, after i tidy my desk..if I can find it under the pile of bits and pieces I keep stacking on it! Til tomorrow…

Yesterday – Indigo Skies on the craft table..

IMG_7101 (Medium) One of Kaisercraft’s new ranges this month is called Indigo Skies. Lots of blues and greys in this range, but because I had picked up so much of the other release ( High Tea) I only chose 3 sheets of this range because I knew I wouldn’t get the time to use it all. Anyway, I sat down with my 3 sheets and made 4 cards, also 2 cards with matching decorated boxes, and decorated these two frames. I will get Nathan to photo the rest properly, but I wanted to share my frames straight away. The butterflies are fussy cut from one of the Indigo Skies 12 x 12 sheets ( one full sheet of gorgeous butterflies to fussy cut..this sheet formed the basis for all my makes) and the background is from another sheet of the same range. Everything else – frames ( free with a magazine years ago),flowers, lace, pretty die cuts, lace and pearls string were all found in a rummage through my craft room. Today I must make a birthday card for my son Daniel so that I can get it in the post, and I have a lesson half completed on my desk which I will finish . Til tomorrow…..

Bo Bunny Primrose number 1

IMG_0299 (Medium)Today we start a new series – Bo bunny primrose. I love the soft muted pastel, but thoroughly modern designs of this paper and have made quite a few cards with this collection already.for this one I fussy cut some of the paper around the circle design, and layered other paper onto pink cardstock. I fussy cut the sheet of butterflies, and they feature on most of the cards in this series. Just added a ribbon bow and kindyglitz to finish. Today I have spent a great deal of time working on a new card shape, but I think I have finally worked out all the kinks – not sure if it will be a lesson at some future dateĀ  yet – may have to practise it a few times myself! Til tomorrow…

kaisercraft velvet Crush number 1

IMG_7863 (Medium)Today is the start of my kaisercraft velvet Crush group – I have only made a few with this collection, but hope to get back to it this evening when i have a little bit of peace and quiet, and the weather is cooler! For this first card i have used the kaisercraft velvet crush 6″ pad and matching collectables. the sentiment and cardstock is from stampin up and the flowers are by Prima.I also added a few dots of liquid pearls. Hope you all haveĀ  a crafty day, til tomorrow….

kaisercraft enchanted garden number 5

IMG_2799 (Medium)going through my files i found some cards made some time ago that ( because of the christmas cards) I haven’t posted yet. So this week will be a tying up odds and ends week.Today and tomorrow is Kaisercraft enchanted garden. this paper was released a few months ago, and I did teach a class with it, where all my ladies diligently fussy cut a sheet of glittery butterflies. some were more diligent than others! Thats where the butterfly on this card came from, and the fairies were on another sheet of glittery paper. The oval is a spellbinder floral oval die, and I added a ribbon bow, kaisercraft flower and some bling to finish. Til tomorrow….

Kaisercraft Secret Admirer number 1…

IMG_7218 (Medium)Nathan got out his camera today and we took some photos so I have a lot of very recent cards to show you all over the next couple of weeks. The first group are all made using Kaisercraft Secret Admirer collection. I haven’t yet been able to purchase my 6″ pad as there has been a little hold up with availability, so I have been using the 12 x 12 papers and on this first card I also added some ribbon, pearls ,lace and kindyglitz. The butterflies are die cut with Cheery Lyn Exotic Butterflies, and the sentiment is Stampin Up perfectly penned. I am off to the craft room for a couple of hours to unwind after a very busy and stressful week! Til tomorrow….
