There comes a time in every cardmakers calender when they have to do mens cards and mine was this week when it was time to book my June craft fair spot. Mens cards are always last on the list! This year I had some new dies to use so made it a lot easier, and I had my very old stamps which are dug out every year, stamped and coloured and teamed up with newer purchases to refresh the look. I kept the general layout very plain cos blokes really don’t like fussy! Next Saturday I have our first crafty girls gathering of the year so I have been very busy organising that and I am so looking forward to catching up with all the girls. Til next time….

Mens cards
I have trouble making mens cards. I think it’s because with female cards, flowers, butterflies, and birds are universal, whereas with men there isn’t a universal fit. Not all men like football, or fishing etc, so when I saw these tool dies from kaisercraft I thought I could make a few mens cards with them. These cards were actually in a class I taught. We did some embossing with kaisercraft embossing folders to add a little texture, and I also used a cogs die on the lower card. I designed the card on the top left to look like a tool box. It is just a basic stepper card, with strips of cardstock to represent the drawers. I got back from my cruise on Thursday, and yesterday was spent grocery shopping and washing clothes. After beautiful weather on the cruise and calm seas I have come back to the middle of an extreme heatwave and it is a shock to the system! My classes on board the ship were well attended and I met many lovely ladies, and gentlemen! I havent yet ventured into the craft room, but by tomorrow I will be creating again – I have itchy fingers! Til tomorrow….
Final mens card..
The final male card in this group is a die cut one. I used Paper Rose Tool set die and Pegboard die and Kaisercraft Occasions die for the sentiment. The patterned paper is a scrap of woodgrain paper. I die cut the tools and sentiment from some silver cardstock, and distressed and inked the edges of the woodgrain paper. The next series will be Graphic 45 Portrait of a lady, because I know some of you are waiting to see what I have done with that collection!Til tomorrow….
Another Mens card
I made this card for an order..I die cut an oval and using the waste part I inked through it onto the base card with green and blue inks. I stamped a stampin up cricket set onto various scraps of cardstock and fussy cut the images, and stuck them onto the base card . I kept it all very simple as that is what my customer wanted, and I really like this one!Back to work this week after my holidays, and taking things very easy with my shoulder! til tomorrow….
New mens card!
I have a couple of Mens cards to show, so today we will start off with the side stepper card I made with some new dies from a new company, Paper rose. They are a South Australian company, and I couldn’t wait to try out the tool dies and the pegboard die. They cut beautifully, and I will be adding some more of their dies to my growing collection! The instruction for my side stepper card is on my You tube channel, you can find the link on the right hand side of my blog. The sentiment is a kaisercraft die, and the rest is just strips of cardstock to mimic the tool drawers. Kaisercraft Barber Shoppe 3 and 4
Here are the other two cards I made with Kaisercraft Barber Shoppe 6″ paper pad. I used a kaisercraft die on the top card, with a couple of the pop outs from the back of the pad, and for the bottom card I used a sizzix hats and moustaches die with a couple of wobbly eyes. Today is the start of Christmas cards!! I have spent the morning going through my boxes finding all my dies, embossing folders, and stamps with a christmas theme, but i have been distracted because I can’t find two new kaisercraft dies..I had them recently because I used them on the next group of cards I am showing you, but they have disappeared! I have decided to stop looking and they will show up when I least expect it..That’s the theory anyway! Til tomorrow….
Kaisercraft Barber Shoppe 1 and 2,
Kaisercraft Barber Shoppe today, I only bought the 6″ pad and one 12 x 12 sheet for fussy cutting and had intended these cards for Fathers day cards, but decided I had enough of those, so these ones turned into birthday cards! The top card is lots of fussy cutting and the addition of a Tim Holtz spinner. The bottom card has a strip of hessian and a really old brad from the bottom of my bits drawer. Otherwise everything on this one is from the 6″ pad. A day off today, shopping done and I am off to the craft room . Til tomorrow….
Fathers day ideas..
Fathers day is not too far away, so I have been making a few fathers day cards. These two are made with a Close to my Heart stamp set.. I haven’t tried this company before, and I am quite impressed with quality and price. The set includes quite a few stamps, including the bow tie and moustache on the bottom card, and the bottle of Pop on the top card. The papers I used are from Stampin Up, an older designer series called confetti celebration. Another new purchase I was trying out is the Enamel Accents on the top card. These are little bottles of liquid which drops out of the bottle beautifully and hardens like enamel. They take a while to dry, ideally left over night. I have a few colours, and very tempted to buy some more! I coloured the bottLe of Pop with copic markers, and didn’t need to colour the bottom card ..that’s how it stamped out. Til tomorrow…..
Graphic 45 safari Adventure the last 2….
Here are the last two cards in my Safari Adventure ( graphic 45 ) series for now.For both cards i have used the 12 x 12 shet that has the card fronts printed on it, which makes for very quick and easy cards. I have added some kaisercraft chipboard pieces on both cards, and some fussy cut pieces and a punched border on the top card.Today is a lazy day in the craft room, after I have organised my teaching bag for my class on Thursday, which I am looking forward to very much! Til tomorrow….
Graphic 45 safari adventure 2…
Quick post today, Graphic 45 Safari Adventure.I layered a piece of the green patterned paper from the collection onto my card base, trimmed back the image, fussy cut a tag from another piece of the collection, and stuck on a button ( which looking at the photo appears to have slipped down a bit – will have to check that!Meanwhile imagine the button on the top of the tag!!)Til tomorrow….
