embedded embossing with kaisercraft secret garden

IMG_7576 (Medium)The last of kaisercraft secret garden paper collection ( for now) and matching collectables, as well as a die cut butterfly ( memory box die) doily, ribbon and bling. the reason I kept this one til last was to show you the embedded embossing technique. I had a lot of little bits and strips of paper so I stuck them all on some white cardstock – i inked around all the edges and left a little bit of white space between each strip, then i ran the whole thing through an embossing folder and my big -shot. The embossing folder I used was a kaisercraft one – postcards I think it was called, but you can use any folder as long as it has quite a close design over it, its fun to experiment with this technique and a brilliant way to use up those little strips of patterned paper we just can’t bring ourselves to throw out! We have had a power outage for most of the day today, so nothing much done but a bit of reading. Thank goodness it’s back on now so the air conditioner is working double time to cool the house down! Til tomorrow…

still revisiting kaisercraft secret garden

IMG_7577 (Medium)IMG_7578 (Medium)Kaisercraft secret garden, paper collection and matching collectables. Here I layered some of the doily collectables on top of one another with foam pads, and just went to town with ribbon, lace and flowers, and punched leaves. The pretty lace on the bottom card was a brilliant find in a second hand shop in a country town outside of Adelaide . I visited there with my sister last time I was on holidays’ and found lots of interesting buttons and lace! Today is so much cooler here, it’s lovely, so I am enjoying some relaxing time in the craft room. Til tomorrow….

revisiting Kaisercraft secret garden..

IMG_7574 (Medium)IMG_7575 (Medium)True to my new years resolution I pulled out some old paper the other day, first up is Kaisercraft secret garden. I loved this paper collection when it came out so I have a lot of it , and I still love it, so it didn’t make the lose it pile – I made a few cards which I will show over the next couple days and the rest has gone back into the shelves. The interesting thibng about this exercise is that since buying the paper I have new dies, stamps etc, so the cards I am making now with the old paper look nothing like the cards I made originally! The top card has some butterflies that I stamped onto patterned paper and fussy cut out, the bottom card has a die cut butterfly ( a memory box die), and I added a doily and sequins to that one. Super hot day here, I jumped into a cold shower as soon as I got home – feel so overheated.salads again for tea, this feels like a long summer this year – looking forward to a pot of soup as soon as we get some cold weather. Til tomorrow….

My Minds Eye My Story 5 and 6..

IMG_7569 (Medium)IMG_7571 (Medium)Still continuing with My Minds Eye My story paper collection and some butterfly cards today, paper from the 6″ pad, and butterflies fussy cut from a 12 x 12 sheet. The top card has some sequins and a ribbon bow, and the bottom card lets the paper speak for itself. i have a class this morning and I am looking forward to seeing my ladies – it feels like ages since we all got together before Christmas! Til tomorrow…..

My Minds Eye My Story 3 and 4..

IMG_7567 (Medium)IMG_7568 (Medium)Today we will continue on with My Minds eye paper collection,(6″ pad) and matching chipboard elements for these two cards.I added lace and ribbon on the top card, and flowers, gold twine and sequins on the lower card. We have a new puppy here at home, her name is Luna and she is 8 weeks old.I had forgotten how energetic and inquisitive little puppies were, and we have to make sure my craft room door is kept closed – she can’t go in there unsupervised – there was nearly an inking mishap when she thought the top of my distress re-inker bottles would be good to chew on.Anyway, she is good company for Nathan and is keeping him on his toes! Til tomorrow….

graphic 45 Gilded Lily 3 and 4

IMG_0691 (Medium)IMG_0692 (Medium)Another two cards made with graphic 45 Gilded Lily paper collection. a bit of fussy cutting on the top card, and just some images from the papers on the bottom card. love the pinks/blues in this paper. today I am in the craft room ( got to love public holidays!) and I am working with more graphic 45 paper – Mon Amour – making some cards suitable for young ladies, and while i am creating i am thinking about my new years resolution – I have a feeling it’s going to be the same as last year – I will share later in the week! til tomorrow…..

Merry Christmas to all my Blog friends!

IMG_0701 (Medium)IMG_0702 (Medium)IMG_0703 (Medium)Three cards today, all made with Bo bunny You’re Invited paper collection and matching collectables.I made good use of my gold twine, which was purchased for xmasd cards but has found it’s way to most of the cards I have made lately ( love using it!)and sequins, and the bottom card has a stamped bird crazy stamp by Tim holtz, because I love them too – they make me smile!A day off today, how lucky that I got xmas eve off, and so Nathan and I were over at the shops super early ( about 7am) to do our grocery and fruit and veg shopping to beat the last minute shoppers, and that worked a treat. It is now only mid morning and all my chores for the day are done.I wish you all a safe and merry Christmas, fun with loved ones, and I will see you all back here in a day or so! Happy holidays, Love helen x

Kaisercraft Fiesta number 1…

IMG_0695 (Medium)I have a few paper collections that I haven’t had a chance to do anything with due to the Christmas makes, and this is one of them – kaisercraft Fiesta. It’s a good collection to showcase just now because the colours remind me of the extre4me heat we are experiencing at the moment. For this card I have used papers from the 6″ pad,and a few of those scrappy bits you get left with at the end of a crafty session. There’s a die cut leafy branch ( can’t remember what that one is  but I like it so might have to go and find it to use again!), some flowers, punched butterfly, sequins and gold twine.I was up early this morning preparing salads for tea so that I am not in the kitchen later today, and now I will go sit under the air conditioner duct and try to stay cool! til tomorrow….

Inlaid Die cutting explained..

IMG_0687 (Medium)On today’s card I have done a technique called Inlaid Die cutting. First I die cut the anchor ( Kaisercraft die) from the white cardstock, collecting all the little bits that we normally throw away, and die cut it again from blue cardstock. I ran the white cardstock piece through the big shot/cuttlebug using a kaisercraft anchors embossing folder. The last step is to inlay the blue anchor into the white embossed cardstock, and then pop in all those little bits of off cuts – if you look carefully you can see which pieces they are as they don’t have the embossed detail on them. That is the fiddliest part of this technique. To finish the card I wrapped some bakers twine around it and mounted on navy blue card. Too hot here today to do anything but read! Til tomorrow…

Kaisercraft sail away.. more embedded embossing…9 and 10…

IMG_0682 (Medium)IMG_0685 (Medium)More cards with kaisercraft sail away collection. the top card is a very simple card made with a piece of the 12 x 12 paper – card fronts with a little bit of fussy cutting detail, and the bottom card is another example of embedded embossing – I fussy cut some images from a sheet of 12 x 12 paper, stuck them on to a white card with a glue stick and ran it through the big shot in a stampin up embossing folder. To finish I die cut a ships wheel ( kaisercraft die) added a circle from the 6″ pad, already printed with the greeting, and added a bow made from bakers twine.Til tomorrow….
