Final card ( for now) using non – xmas stash

This is the final card for now made using non christmas stash. The cardstock used is Stampin Up cherry cobbler, which I embossed with Stampin Up vintage wallpaper embossing folder, and then inked over the raised bits with choc chip ink. I stamped some music notes ( kaisercraft stamp) in choc chip, and matted that onto Stampin Up handsome hunter cardstock which I had punched with my e.k. success border edger – sorry, can’t remember the name of that one ,but someone might be able to help with that -and finally I die cut a flower using a Dienamics upsey daisies die. I stamped a greeting and cut it into a small tag and attached. these little greeting tags are a new fad of mine, and I have been creating them for a lot of my recent makes, so you will see them – a lot! Finally today I want to welcome all my recent subscribers – so glad to have you all, and always feel free to leave a comment , a question or even a request for something you might like to see. For now, I had better go and cook tea – the natives are getting restless! Til tomorrow….

xmas cards 2012 using non xmas paper number 2

Here is my second xmas card for the year using non – christmas paper. Here the paper is Stampin Up Love Notes, and I have made good use of my cuttlebug, using my spellbinders labels 17, and classic edges one. I also used my scalloped edge punch and the stamp is from Stampin Up – Welcome Christmas. The cardstock is Stampin Up old Olive.Tonight I intend to spend a little time in the craft room using some of this months kaisercraft release – Miss Match to finalise my fathers day cards. Til tomorrow…..

xmas cards made with non – xmas paper!

I know it’s really early for a christmas card, but today was our annual xmas cards for the troops marathon, and it all went like clockwork. We had lots of helpers for inserts, fussy cutting and bagging, and Nathan roamed around taking photos, so I am sure there will be some kind of video clip to show you soon! We made just over 300 cards, our best effort to date. Before I dug out my xmas boxes I made a few cards using non xmas paper, so I thought I would put them up here over the next day or two to show you all. Here I used scraps of blue and white patterned paper, white cardstock and my Stampin Up dasher stamp.I punched both the layers with a scallop edge bored punch, and I tied white seam binding around the base and tied it into a big generous floppy bow.We had to be careful what bling we put on the cards as they were being sent overseas so the cards had to stay relatively flat, but you could add rhinestones or pearls to this one.Til tomorrow….

The lake House number 9

Still working with kaisercraft The Lake House collection – this time the 6″ pad and matching collectables. I inked all the edges with my distress inks, and added some little flowers die cut with my Tim Holtz tattered florals garland die, and some kaisercraft rhinestones. Quick post tonight as I have to get my bags ready for our big xmas cards for the troops marathon tomorrow. It should be a very busy day with a goal of 200 cards to reach – I will let you know if we reach it! Til tomorrow….

The Lake House collection number 8

We are back to kaisercraft Lake House collection, which was their paper release last month, and I have enjoyed coming up with lots of different cards using this paper. For this one I  covered the front of some Stampin Up Blushing Bride cardstock, after punching the right hand edge with my martha stewart lace doily edger, and decorated it with a couple of pieces from the matching collectables.Just added a greeting stamp and ribbon bow to finish.Things are coming along nicely in the craft room regarding the boys cards, so now I am thinking of having a rummage and bringing out some older papers to see if I can finish off a collection or two to make room in my shelving system for more new papers which are going to hit the shop shelves soon  due to all the gorgeous new releases coming out in America.Til tomorrow….

Vintage bits and pieces

This is a card I made with Melissa Francis C’est La Vie paper, and bits and pieces lying around on my craft table.I used stampin Up blushing Bride cardstock, and some scrap lace, twill tape, hat pin, flowers and a doily I crocheted myself ( don’t look too closely!)I am not sure where the image and bunting come from – as I said lying on my craft table!Quick post tonight as it’s shopping night – til tomorrow…

Melissa francis C’est La Vie Vintage card

Today I have gone back to a favourite vintage paper – Melissa Francis C’est La Vie.I got out my sewing machine and sewed a border around one panel, as the colours are very similar on the two pieces of paper I used, and I needed a little definition. I dyed some lace with some weak tea, and some white seam binding with a little re-inker,and die cut a couple of circles with my spellbinders, and a memory box Fauntleroy crest which I cut in half to pop behind the flower.I finished off with a few drops of liquid pearls.Today was my second monthly lesson over at Paper Flourish, a full class, which went very well – always a relief! For now, I have moved onto boy cards this week and lets see if I can stay on task! Til tomorrow….

Graphic 45 A Ladies Diary number 7

Here is the last one in my Graphic 45 a ladies diary series for now. I used Stampin Up early espresso cardstock, and fussy cut the flower from one of the papers. The tag is from the matching chipboard, and I just added a gold button tied with string. I brushed some perfect pearls onto the flower, and used a little kindyglitz on the hat. I have spent the afternoon in the craft room, making some more Fathers day cards, and working on some xmas cards for our big marathon which is only a few days away now.I did go through my xmas supplies, and once it was all sorted out there wasn’t too much paper left from last year, so big sigh of relief I will be able to justify buying more this year! Til tomorrow….

Vintage graphic 45 a ladies diary

While we are on graphic 45 a ladies diary, I will continue on, and show the other two in this group, today and tomorrow. Can you tell I really like this paper? it didn’t take long for my thoughts to turn to fussycutting, which is what I did with the rose and mounted it with foam pads. I hand cut a circle, and roughly cut it into a spiral and rolled it to make the flower on top of the Chipboard piece ( still in the Graphic 45 a ladies diary collection) . I gathered some lace across the card, and stuck a srtip of paper across the top of that and then all I had to do was bling it all up with kaisercraft pearls and kindyglitz . Tonight I am looking forward to rummaging around in my Xmas boxes. I thought I only had one tub, but have discovered that I actually have two and if I don’t use some of this papers etc I am not going to be able to justify buying any new stuff this year! That would be a disaster! Til tomorrow….

A Ladies Diary – Fathers day card!

Every one who follows my blog knows that i try to make a male card out of every paper collection that I purchase, and sometimes it’s harder to do than other times . I didn’t think I would manage it with Graphic $5’s A ladies Diary because it is such a gorgeously feminine paper, but here it is – I made it as a fathers day card, because that is what I have been working on lately, but it would be just as good for a birthday card. Just lots of matting on this one, and I used Stampin Up crumcake and baja breeze cardstock for that part of it. I just added a My Minds Eye brad wrapped with string in the right hand corner for this one to be complete. I taught a lesson today over at Paper Flourish, and had a great time with my ladies, came home and made a couple of quick cards, then did a litttle experimenting dying my white seam binding. First i tried spraying it with my new perfect pearls mists which worked quite well, but then went further and mixed my own mixture of water, re- inkers and perfect pearls powder which has worked a treat. I have discovered that the colour is more vibrant if you let it sit in the dye for an hour or so, and then don’t squeeze all of the liquid out of the seam binding when you pull it out of the bowl. It takes a little longer to dry but the colour is more intense. Now all that is left for me to do is try and get all this green dye off my fingers before work tomorrow! Til tomorrow…..
