Mintay Cosy Evening..

IMG_2250IMG_2252This week I was working on a project with Mintay Cosy Evening, and I had a few leftovers. Rather than store them away I made a few cards with them. I added nothing to the finished cards…solely the paper, with a little fussy cutting. I am happy to say all scraps have been dealt with! I have spent so many happy hours sitting at my craft desk, I am so glad I have this hobby at this time, escaping to a happy creating space. I have even taken the time to find some of my older stamp sets, and have been embracing inky fingers again! Til next time, stay safe….

The final 4 Uniquely Creative Winter Rose cards…for now..

IMG_2220IMG_2221IMG_2224IMG_2226Some of you may notice a few little changes to my blog.. Nathan has been busy updating, and cleaning ..I guess after over ten years it needed it but hopefully you can still find the things you want to see. Let me know if any of you have any issues! Today’s cards are the final four I made with Uniquely Creative Winter Rose paper collection, and matching collectables. I have added an assortment of embellishments..flowers, fussy cutting, flourish die cuts, pearl strings and ribbon. sad to put this collection away for now but I have new papers to play with!Til next time.. stay safe..

Thinking of you..

_MG_2982 (Medium) I made a card with not a bit of patterned paper which is very rare for me! I die cut a large rectangle out of the front of my card, and most of the decorating happened on the card i stuck inside the card. I die cut a tree, and punched a few extra branches in a different colour ( which I also added to the ground around the bench). The bench is a stampin up stamp which I heat embossed in gold. I added a cute little ladybug to the bench. and die cut the Thinking of you words. Well the man is still up on the roof stomping about up there, he has had to stop and start as the rain has been affecting his working but we never complain about rain so he just works around it! I have a late start for work today, but i must go and get organised…til tomorrow…..

Go Press and foil ..simple..

_MG_4603 (Medium)Todays card is a very simple one made with my Go Press and Foil machine to foil the Rose hot foil stamp ( couture Creations) in green foil, and then white cardstock for the rest. I dry embossed a piece of cardstock with a stampin up embossing folder, and Die cut a stitched oval ( Seven Paper Dolls die) One little white ribbon and this all occasion card is finished! I have a day off today and quite a bit of housework to catch up on, but I am sure I will find some spare time to unwind in the craft room…til tomorrow….

It’s all about the Shoes!

_MG_9389 (Medium)_MG_9391 (Medium) A pair of shoes today! The patterned papers are from my 12 x 12 Mambi Happy pad,and i die cut the shoes from glitter cardstock ( american crafts brand). I have also done some foiling with the Go Press and foil machine ( couture Creations) The Happy Birthday pieces are Dusty attic and foiled, and I also foiled the oval with a couture creations metal stamp specifically designed for foiling. Some flowers and ribbon bows and these two were complete! I have had a relaxing Easter break, prepared all my May lessons, and yesterday Joe, Nathan and I went for a drive up to Mt Lofty Botanical gardens. It was a beautiful day weather wise, and we all enjoyed strolling up and down the paths where we saw the leaves on the trees turning their autumn colours. Til tomorrow…..IMG_0502IMG_0497

Kaisercraft Oh so lovely..not a card!

_MG_6379 (Medium) My Cousin has headed off to England to spend a couple of years working over there, and I made her this frame to remind her how special she is! The paper collection is Kaisercraft Oh so Lovely, the flowers were Prima, but I have had them a long time, The acetate butterfly is from a kaisercraft sheet and I had the frame in my craft stash. I have just returned from the dentist where I had a filling replaced and I am wishing I had my cup of coffee before I went there.. I am off to look for a straw and then tackle the final bit of packing for the cruise. Til tomorrow…..

Kaisercraft Oh so Lovely revisited..

_MG_6369 (Medium)There is a story behind today’s card…When my son Daniel was home at Christmas he mentioned that a friend in his office wished she could have come home with him so that she could spend some time in my craft room and learn how to make cards, so before Daniel went back to Sydney I made up a bit of a kit for her and this card was the prototype of the kit I sent for her to put together. She has since made it and sent me a photo of her proudly holding it! In two weeks today I will be sailing the blue seas, but when I get back I will send her some more kits. Anyway, I should mention that this paper collection is Kaisercraft Oh so lovely ( an old collection but beautiful)and the associated collectables. For now I am off to prepare tea, til tomorrow….

Kaiser craft Rose Avenue 9…

IMG_0660 (Medium)I only used a little of the kaisercraft Rose Avenue collection just as the background layer, ( from the 6 x 6 pad) and went over the top with the embellishing! I have some beautiful wide lace which I used here, the strip across the top of the lace is from the bottom of a 12 x 12 sheet of rose avenue paper( the identity strip that runs along the bottom), a ribbon bow, one of my resin frames…I am getting low on them now..must find out where I can get them from….I backed the resin frame with a little piece of a trellis die cut and decorated it with a couple of flowers, a die cut leaf and a butterfly from the rose avenue collectables pack. The greeting is from the 6″ pad backed with a scrap of patterned paper. This weekend is all about wrapping presents and quickly making some gift tags which I always seem to forget! Til tomorrow…..

Graphic 45 Natures Sketchbook

_MG_9827 (Medium) I have had this paper collection for a little while but haven’t had time to create with it because I have been busy with Cjristmas cards, but I had to do a spring challenge and thought this collection…(graphic 45 Natures Sketchbook) was perfect. The papers used are from the 12 x 12 range and I fussy cut some butterflies, added a ribon bow and inked around all my edges with distress tea dye ink. This afternoon is all about clearing my desk to make some room and to start thinking about December lessons! Til tomorrow…

Shabby Chic..Helen style!

_MG_1961 (Medium) Before I start this morning I just want to let my American followers know I am thinking of them all, the ones in the East who are battling with Fire, and the ones down south who are battling with the aftermath of one Hurricane and bracing for more…my thoughts are with you all.

I am determined to master Shabby Chic. I love shabby, but I am struggling to get to the point where I can say I have succeeded, but I will continue to practise, and show you my progress. This card has a lot of product but a lot of it was put together with bits and pieces left on my work table from other projects so i didn’t prepare anything new for this project except for the background layer which was a piece of A4 white cardstock. I painted it with a light watered down layer of Gesso, and used a texture template to add some Liquitex Light modelling paste. When that was dry I tapped some tea dye distress ink over the raised bits and sprayed randomly over the whole piece with Prima Color Bloom Cotton candy spray mist. All that remained for this step was to cut to size, distress all the edges and ink with more tea dye distress ink and attach to the card front. decorating…. a strip of lace under one of the layers, a Prima Bird, a flower made with sizzix bigz 3d flower die and old book pages, memory box Lorelai leaves die, kaisercraft wooden flourish foiled in silver, pearls , Prima hessian leaf, and flowers. Til tomorrow…..
