Sketch series for using scraps number 7

here we are at number 7 in our series for using up scraps – only a couple more to go – I hope you are not too bored by now! For my trial card I stuck strips of varying widths onto a piece of scrap paper – printer paper I think it was – and hand cut a shape from it, cut a couple of labels from Spellbinders labels 14, and added seam binding and a hat pin threaded with an extra matching bead. The paper is Stampin Up Everyday Enchantment. For the bottom card I decided to cut the shape using a spellbinder die – the largest in Labels 17, but otherwise stuck faithfully to the sketch. the papers here are American crafts neapolitan. Speaking of which I decided last night to use up the remaining bits from my original 4 sheets and 8 cards later I have to say a fond farewell to Neapolitan! so finished another collection! 19 cards altogether from those four sheets of paper – I think I broke my record! My perfume of choice today is Deep Heat – very sore back that seems to come and go – so can’t sit for very long – no crafting today… Til tomorrow…..

Sketch Series for using scraps number 5

Still working on our sketch series for using scraps, and here i have cut 3 2 cm wide strips at varying lengths and cut a V into the bottom of them, used my labels 14 spellbinders to die cut a couple of labels, layered them together and threaded seam binding through them and tied a big bow. Added a button and twine to finish. The paper is still my 2 pieces of Stampin Up Everyday enchantment, and I matted the design on to Stampin Up Pool party. for the second card I used American crafts neapolitan paper and substituted the seam binding for ribbon, and the button for a kaisercraft flower.here the cardstock is Stampin Up Certainly celery and blushing Bride. I am offf tonight to teach a class over at the Village… so looking forward to it – we always have a good laugh… Til tomorrow…..

sketch series for using scraps number 2

Foe number 2 I had a rectangle of patterned paper which I cut into 2 cm strips, and cut each one 1 cm shorter than the one before it, and then cut the v’s into the ends to make banners. I punched some circles, and decorated a strip with an edge punch. I wrapped a ribbon around the whole lot and added a bow. The paper on the first card is Stampin Up everyday enchantment as is the ribbon which I dyed to match my paper. The second card, using American Crafts Neapolitan follows the sketch closely, but I substituted lace for ribbon and added a punched butterfly and some kindyglitz. The cardstock is Stampin Up Peach Parfait. Til tomorrow….

English rose … the last I promise….

I farewelled this paper some time ago, but Nathan and Ididn’t take any photos this weekend, and I was going back through my files to see what hadn’t been posted yet, and I found this group of cards, which is – I promise – the last of kaisercraft English rose paper ( mainly because I haven’t got any of that paper left) and a collection of ribbon and flowers, and some sizzix tattered florals made with my cuttlebug.I am looking forward to spending a few hours in the craft room tonight, I really haven’t had time for a nice long card making session all week, and have quite a few ideas I want to try out. Til tomorrow….

Charlottes Dream 2

Again, this card using kaisercraft Charlottes Dream paper collection was made so that I could play with some new purchases! The butterflies were stamped and embossed ( a new embossing powder called Antiquities weathered white by Ranger) onto vellum and cut out, and the gorgeous wreath is a new die for me from Memory box called Catalina Wreath. I just added ribbon, lace, liquid pearls and kaisercraft pearls to finish.Today has been a very productive crafty day. I finished my experimenting with strips, I have made 9 different cards just using strips. I actually used 2 sheets of patterned paper to see how much I would need for my class, and all I had left were the tiniest bits that I was quite happy to throw out!So now to choose which ones will make it into the class. I then moved on to designing a card with a built in bookmark and moving parts.I was having trouble with measurements, so put it aside and made some baby cards. Had a little Nanna nap, and when I woke up I had solved the problem with the measurements ( Amazing Huh?)so now I will be found  in the craft room finishing off that design and it will also be a lesson at some time..Til tomorrow….

Fresh Vintage

Today I am showing a card that I made using my Stampin Up supplies. The designer paper is stampin Up everyday enchantment ( absolutely gorgeous, and is on my craft desk as we speak, as I am by no means finished with this paper, and my lovely sister has just given me some more) and the stamp sets – petite pairs for the sentiment and Fresh vintage for the stamped image which I coloured with prima chalk ink pads. I just added a little ribbon and lace to finish. Nathan and I did fit in time today to do some photo -ing, but I haven’t sorted through them all yet, but we might have new stuff tomorrow… Til tomorrow….

Kaisercraft These days number 7..

I can’t believe how many cards I have made from this Kaisercraft These Days paper collection. I would normally space the posts out a little bit so that you don’t all get bored seeing the same papers, but as Nathan was busy last weekend we didn’t take any photos of my cards, – tomorrow will be photo day. I added a doily, ribbon, a bling flourish and used my cuttlebug to die cut a sizzix tattered floral which was put together with a kaisercraft brad. I fussy cut around one of the papers for the roses along the bottom of the card.Another Mothers day card done! Til tomorrow….

Farewell to English rose

In keeping with my new years resolution to use up some of the paper collections I have accumulated I took out this one – Kaisercraft English Rose, which was released last year before Mothers day. I had made a lot of cards with this paper at the time, it has been a favourite, but it was time to use up the little bits that were left. Who knew I would get so many more cards out of the scraps! I have used various dies, ribbon, cardstock, lace, flowers and bling and still had bits left so I took the leftovers to the Village ladies for them to use on their Mothers day cards for the troops. This photo took Nathan and I half an hour to take, the light wasn’t good, and the cards kept falling. I was up on a chair holding the backdrop and had no control over it so its not as good as nathan likes but I gave up! Today is an exciting day in my blog world because at some stage this afternoon someone is going to be my 30,000th visitor. That number has made me stop and think about all things bloggy! In the past 18 months since I started my blog I think my cardmaking has come a long way, and I have learnt lots of new techniques thanks to the many lovely friends I have made in the crafting world. I have started teaching in that 18 months as well, and some of my students are also my blog followers and my friends. I have developed e -mail friendships with lovely ladies around the world, and I love hearing how life is in other countries.Of course Nathan has been with me all the way as my techie support and my photographer. We have taken close to 600 photos of my cards – to the point that the budgie makes the click of the camera as soon as she sees Nathan coming with it! Would I stop blogging – No Way – it’s like a crafting diary that I just happen to be sharing with as many people as want to see it and I am so appreciative that you all do ! This is a very long post today – I better go or else I will have no time for card making today! Til tomorrow….

Little darlings 4

Welcome to my new subscriber! Today is the final in my Graphic 45 little darlings series for now. I have added lace and ribbon, and stamped the greeting with Stampin Up Petite pairs, and four frames stamps before punching out with the matching decorative punch. Ink used was stampin up Baja Breeze. Today is my last day of holidays, and I have spent a little bit of it working towards my goal of using up at least one of my paper collections. It is a bigger job than I thought… I have made 18 more cards with my Kaisercraft English Rose  bits and pieces, and still there are more cards to made with it.. I am thinking I might take the rest with me on Friday to the Mothers day card marathon and let the ladies finish it for me! Now I must go and dig out my uniform and find my lunchbox, why do holidays go so quickly? Til tomorrow….

Little Darlings 3

This card made itself – Graphic 45 Little darlings paper, and a little bit of ribbon, nothing easier! No card making today – I have been visiting Mum and dad at the retirement village, and now it’s tea time. I may go into the craft room later, but it will be to gather bits and pieces together for our big marathon on Friday to make mothers day cards for the troops.Til tomorrow….
