Here is another idea to use up those little strips of patterned papers. I have cut some banners and grouped them together with a decorative brad, but you could string them across the top of the card for another look. a message die cut and ribbon was all that was needed to finish! tomorrow we will look at scraps that are a little bit bigger! til tomorrow….

Christmas cards using last years scraps part 3
Tonights idea combines the previous two posts using strips and squares , with lots of layering and use of foam squares to give different heights on the the card. A ribbon bow , button threaded with linen thread and the red rhinestones add visual interest and cunningly form a triangle which draws the eye around the card!Til tomorrow….
Christmas cards with leftover bits part 2
Another idea for those strips of leftover bits is to cut ( or punch) them into squares and layer them with foam pads ( I use three different thicknesses – .5 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm) onto your card.add a ribbon bow and button for a homespun feel and to add the the patchwork effect. The greeting on the right hand card was made with a scalloped collectable which had a message on it which I didn’t want to use ( sometimes those messages are more for scrapbooking than card making ) and layered another circle – this time from the paper pad – on top. Christmas cards using last years leftovers…
I gathered all my Kaisercraft christmas papers from christmas’s past.. ( these included Turtle dove, december 25th,Dear Santa, Tis the Season and twig and Berry) and combined them all. Every one who knows me will tell you this was very hard for me as I always keep my collections separate, and never mix and match!I still won’t mix paper companies. It was not too bad, as most of the collections had very similar colours. Anyway, once that was done I went through the paper pads, and fussy cut, and took out border and labels die cuts that I hadn’t used previously and put these in a separate pile. Next I combined all the collectables into one container, and after all that it was very hard to tell the different collections anyway.First I worked on the wider strips that are left behind when I had covered the original cards and the two cards above are the result of that. I added a collectable to both, some words fussy cut from a nother piece of paper, and some craftworks candii in the top corner of the card on the right.More strip makes tomorrow…. Til tomorrow….
paper flourish challenge – words…
The shop I teach lessons at runs a challenge every month, and this monthe challenge was ” words”. we were given a sheet of this kaisercraft paper and sent off to create working with the theme words. I came up with two cards, this is the first.Along with the paper ( I can’t remember which collection this one came from – will have to research that) I used all stampin up products – cardstock, seam binding, ruffled ribbon and sentiment stamp.I finished off with a couple of kaisercraft pearls. I was hoping I would be showing my xmas card creations using up my scraps, but due to technical difficulties of the computer sort, Nathan has been busy trying to fix my computer for most of today, so no time left to get the camera out. He seems to have succeeded, and I am grateful cos the alternative was going to have to be spend money on a new one!Til tomorrow….
The last Authentique Pretty….
I saved the best for last ( I think anyway – this is my favourite), and I have put this paper away for now while I concentrate on chritmas cards for a little while.I did lots of fussy cutting for this one, and die cut a butterfly – spellbinders – added some rhinestones and a gorgeous satin ribbon.Paper is Authentique Pretty. Early post today as I intend to get some cards done this afternoon before it gets too bitterly cold in the craft room. Til tomorow….
Authentique Pretty number 5
very quick post tonight , still with the Authentique Pretty paper, and another dress form deign. This time I used stampin up ruffled ribbon to dress my dress form, and the stampin up vintage verses stamp, and more ribbon for a bow. I used a metal charm around the top of the dress form. til tomorrow….
Authentique Pretty number 4
Sorry I missed last nights post, but we are still having random internet issues. still using Authentique Pretty collection of papers,I also used a dress form die ( mine is from stampin up, but most die companies have one of these!)and wrapped some lace around it, and glued a string of pearls around the neck area.I folded back a corner of the layered square and pinned it with a kaisercraft brad, and added some black lace there to peek through. A ribbon bow and some ruler printed trim ( got it and the string of pearls from K-mart) to finish off this design. Til tomorrow….
Authentique “pretty” number 3
I have used punches and dies on this card – Couture creations retro flower die, spellbinders butterfly die, ek success border punch and martha stewart leaf punch. the paper is Authentique Pretty, and I also added some lace, ribbon and bling.Today has been all about using up last years christmas paper, and I have come up with a few ways of using all those annoying strips, so will share them with you next week after nathan and I have done the photo’ing! Til tomorrow….
Authentique Pretty number 2
Authentique Pretty paper collection, mounted onto black cardstock base. I cut a matching strip for the right hand side, and layered a piece of lace onto it, mimicking the cuts at the bottom, and added a little pink bow . On the left I mounted some of the fussy cut paper, and added a butterfly charm threaded with black ribbon. Today i have prepared my september lessons, and have been thinking about christmas cards. I have a day off on Monday,. so will pull out last years left over paper and make a start on using it up so that I don’t feel too guilty when I buy new releases which I know are on the way and I won’t be able to resist!
