I had the idea for this tool box card, and spent a little time working out the cuts and folds, it is a basic side stepper card, with only one side step – usually you have a couple of steps on the right hand side, but this one only has the one valley fold. I cut matching cardstock for the drawers on the left hand side, and added a fine strip of silver cardstock to the tops of the drawers. On the right hand side i cut a piece of yellow cardstock and punched holes to resemble pegboard, then it was just a matter of stamping ( stampin up tools stamps) my tools.Really pleased with how this one worked out and hopefully find some time to make a couple more before my craft fair in June! This morning I dropped our little puppy Luna off at the vet for her desexing operation, and I feel terrible!I hope she forgives me! the house is very quiet without her and I can’t wait to pick her up this afternoon.I am heading into the craft room to take my mind off it all…til tomorrow….

Time for some Mens cards!

After all the lacy, frilly, flowery cards I have been sharing lately I thought it was time to show you some Mens cards which I have recently made. The papers I have used are from Kaisercraft called Hunt and gather and they were a release from a couple of years ago! I don’t have much left so thought I should just use it and finish with it On the top card I fussy cut the fish images from the paper, stuck them on some cardstock, and ran that through my big shot in an embossing folder ( stampin up). This is a technique called embedded embossing and I love the effect, you will notice it quite often on my cards. For the second card I stamped my fisherman onto a variety of patterned and coloured papers, then cut out bits and pieces of him, and stuck him all together again – I also like doing this technique because I can give him a patterned shirt etc doing it this way instead of colouring the image.Til tomorrow….
more mothers day cards – Kaisercraft Cottage Rose..

Another Mothers day card, this time using kaisercrafts new release paper Cottage Rose. This is my kind of paper, and for this gatefold card I have used the 6″ pad. The panel on the front is from a piece of the 12 x 12 paper, and I have used Prima flowers to decorate. I have included 2 photos so that you can see ( sort of) how I decorated the inside panel as well. All the little leaves and twiggy branches were die cut with a great new die from kaisercraft – I love it, and all my scrap green papers are now die cut with it and stored in a container on my desk so that I always have foilage at my fingertips! Today is Village lesson day, so I must head to the craft room to get all my gear together, and remind myself what we are making- tomorrow I will post pictures of the cards the ladies created.Til tomorrow….
Mothers day, prima tales of you and me
Prima Tales of you and me paper collection and matching die cuts, with some gorgeous prima flowers, and some recycled beading and lace. The birdcage is by kaisercraft and I found it in the bottom drawer of my craft room – a drawer I don’t go into very often but will be sorting out soon to see if there are any more fantastic finds like this one, in there! I inked over the birdcage with tea dye distress ink, and I made my card a DL size ( that’s a 21 x 21 piece of cardstock folded in half and fits into a DL envelope – the size envelope that you don’t like to see in your letterbox cos it’s usually a bill!) to accomodate the tallness of the birdcage! A day off today, shopping done, and i am off to Paper Flourish to seek out new papers! Til tomorrow…..
Kaisercraft coastal escape 1,2 and 3

A beach theme today with the wonderful papers from Kaisercraft – coastal escape. All the cards here are made with just a couple of the 12 x 12 sheets, and they were a lesson I taught a couple of months ago at paper Flourish. The trim is by Green tara, and the large happy birthday die is from kaisercraft, the smaller one is by spellbinders. The bottom card is a great sketch idea to use up those little strips we always have left over!My voice has come back, and I am starting to feel more like normal again, just a s well really, I need a ll my energy to chase after that puppy who has developed an obssession with my balls of wool. No amount of telling off will put her off, and yesterday she had unravelled 3 balls all through the house.I must invest in a zip up bag that she can’t get into! Til tomorrow…..
embossing and die cutting
The rose die that I used on these two cards was a freebie on the front of a card making magazine. On both cards I die cut the rose, then stuck it on contrasting card and fussy cut around it to give the two tone effect. I have some border embossing folders so they are the ones I used on the card on the right, and I used my Kaisercraft rose embossing folder on the left card – that folder is becoming a favourite! the fancy edge on the left card was die cut with spellbinders borders dies. Both cards were finished off with ribbon bows. The “with love” is another freebie die,and I die cut the letters on the other card to spell Mum.Quick post today, til tomorrow…..
Z fold flap card
This is the third card the ladies made at last months village lesson.I have put it up separately because I want to spend a little time explaining the measurements. I cut a piece of cardstock 10.5 cm wide and 30 cms long, folded it in half, and folded the front back on itself.I then cut a piece of cardstock 8cm wide by 20cm long and folded it in half. this is the flap that gets stuck on the back of the base card. After that it just a matter of decorating. I have used an older paper collection here from Stampin up,but I have done this style again with some Bo Bunny paper, and I have found that 4 different patterns within the paper range works best – a big design on the back, stripes down the folded card front, a smaller matching design on the front flap and very plain inside for writing on. This one below is the Bo Bunny card using the new secret garden range. Til tomorrow….
Village card class cards

Here are two of the cards ladies made last month in my class. I will show the third one tomorrow. The top card uses a Kaszazz lighthouse stamp which we lightly sponged ink around rather than colouring, and matted a couple of times onto stampin up cardstock. The seagulls are a Kaisercraft die which we also lightly inked so that they were distinct from the background. The lower card is a favourite of mine – we used the dies and stamps from stampin up botanical blooms sets. the best way I find to use these dies is to just die cut a big pile of different sizes from all your scraps then spend a lovely afternoon putting them all together on cards!. the background embossing is a kaisercraft rose embossing folder.Just a note – I only used the matching stamps from this set to stamp the veins on the leaves). Today was meant to be a village lesson, but with no voice it just wouldn’t work, and I really don’t want my ladies to catch this one. Til tomorrow…..
stampin up birthday blooms, the second..
Here is the other card I have made with Stampin Up Birthday Blooms stamp set. Again, I coloured the image with copics, and used stampin up cardstock for my card blank. The paper is from stampin up botanical blooms designer paper ( has anyone noticed I have real trouble mixing my paper companies?)spellbinders scalloped die, and ribbon from my ribbon drawer. My voice is slowly coming back, but not enough to go to work, so today I will be resting, making a big pot of spinach soup, and hanging out a little bit in the craft room – Mothers day is only 4 weeks away, so I must make some more cards.Til tomorrow….
Kaisercraft Ma Cherie 5 and 6…

Two cards today, both with the same decoration, but one done portrait style, and one done landscape style. Background papers are from the Kaisercraft Ma Cherie 6″ pad. The interesting thing about these two cards …On yesterdays card when I die cut the printed sentiment from the 12 x 12 paper I was left with a spotted frame with a hole in the middle, so for todays’ cards I die cut a circle from more patterned paper to fit the hole, rounded the corner with a fancy corner punch from Stampin Up, and used that to create my focal point – I just had to add a fussy cut butterfly ( this collection has a whole sheet of gorgeous butterflies on it to fussy cut!), some liquid pearls on the top card and gorgeous rose trim on the bottom card. After spending my crafting time this week making mens cards I am ready to break out the lace, flowers, ribbons, pearls and create some vintage cards with my new Prima papers – can not wait!! but first Nathan and I have to go and photograph aforementioned mens cards. til tomorrow……
